The other side of the coin is helping homeless animals

I never thought that on the blog I would talk about helping animals. For me it is obvious that we need to help them and we do it regularly with Piotr. If someone is here recently, or maybe does not know - our ear is also adopted.

I am in favor of the liquidation of the kennel and the act, which is to come into force soon, makes me happy (it's a pity that it does not include rabbits, but I think it is a big step forward).

We found a pet! What's next?

When at the end of October someone dropped two kittens into the cat boxes, I was angry. Tiny cats ran between cars, often running under cars. I didn't know what to do, so I asked the cat foundation for help. The answer I received totally shocked me. One of the ladies suggested that I take the kittens home to a temporary home (DT). She EVEN decided that she could help catch kittens and ensure castration or sterilization. I was speechless.
I began to explain that taking kittens is out of the question because of having a very territorial rabbit. In addition, we live in a rented apartment and I can't imagine having more animals.

adoptions of rabbits

We decided to adopt Semir. We knew that this was associated with certain sacrifices, such as traveling. We are responsible for the pet that we decided to provide a home. How much a rabbit can be lived with a man has exceeded my wildest expectations. Contrary to appearances, the ears are very contact animals that can cuddle and give kisses.
Returning, however, to the kittens - I started to act and look for a home for them. Unfortunately, I could not save one of them. One Sunday I saw through the window that he was lying in an unnatural position next to the car. I knew it didn't mean anything good. My goal was to save the second of the kittens. My heart breaks at the thought of what this kitten must have experienced seeing his dying brother or sister.

We caught a cat and we don't know what to do next

I haven't seen this other kitten for a long time or we just passed each other. 25 November was the day when it all began. When I went shopping in the morning I met a kitten. He looked with his beautiful eyes deep into mine. I thought he was hungry and I bought him a sachet for cats. When he ate, I told him I wouldn't let anything happen to him.

adoptions of rabbits

In the evening, we went with Piotr to feed the cat, which I had previously seen through the window as it passes under and between cars (yes, those in motion). I was horrified. We fed the kitten and within a few minutes, after he almost fell under the car once again, we decided that we had to catch him. We played with the kitten for almost 1,5 h, and finally entered the transporter himself. I didn't think what to do next, I was just glad he was safe.
When we got home I started thinking about what to do next ...

Golden tips on the other side of the computer

I set up the transporter and let the kitten calm down. It definitely was a lot of stress for him. At that time I published a post in one of the groups about the fact that we have a cat and could anyone help us. I also called people who could in any way help me answer the question "what next?"
There were dozens of comments about the fact that the cat should stay with me. People, not knowing my situation, not knowing anything about me, decided what to do next. Instead of sharing a post, which would definitely be more help.

helping homeless animals

After renewed contact with the cat foundation and lack of help from them, we knew that we had to look for help elsewhere. There is now a very dangerous rabbit virus that is transmitted by droplet. We didn't know anything about the kitten, so we had to protect Semir from any infection.

The other side of the coin is helping homeless animals

The wave of hate and venom that came on my messanger after I informed that we had given the kitten to the shelter was a huge blow to me. People who completely did not know me and my situation began to write hundreds of messages about how bad I am. They wrote that I could keep him, who one had to be without giving the kitten a temporary home, preferably a permanent one. They did not know that my heart broke into a million pieces when the Lord took the kitten from the shelter. We called her Luna.

Officially, the kitten's name is Foszka and is for adoption in the Gdansk shelter "Promyk". It is now sterilized and quarantined. Now she is just waiting for a loving home that will allow her to forget that someone and her cat brother sent her to death. If any of you would like to adopt this cat beauty, please contact me priv. You will find more information on our fanpage.
This post was created to show you that you have to have a hard ass when you want to help animals. Because there will always be someone who says that we have done too little.

I took in a little kitten myself and I know how big a responsibility it is. I couldn't require someone to take a cat home just because they might not like cats. I am not talking about the lack of conditions for having such a pet już

Unfortunately, not everyone understands or simply does not want to understand 🙁

The sad thing is that you helped this animal and people criticized you.
At the beginning of September, when the son started going to kindergarten, someone threw a little kitten there, he sat under the bush and his heart was slicing. My son asked us to take him but we really couldn't do it. Even my husband, who doesn't like cats, wanted to take him in. But we are not yet on our own, if we already had our home, I would not hesitate.
In two days this kitty disappeared and I was sure that someone had taken him, oh how wrong I was. He was hit by a car 🙁

That is what we wanted to avoid. The kitty on this day was so amused that he did not look at danger.

A few months ago, Piotr and his friends from work took the kitty to the shelter. It turned out that during 2 weeks no one reacted to the toddler sitting right next to a busy street. It's a nightmare :(((

The saddest thing is that the organizations that should take care of it did not show any desire to do so ...

    • Avatar DPBLOGPL 11 December 2017 / 14: 19

Unless help was to say that I should take care of the cat. I wouldn't think about it 😉

I used to deal with a foundation and unfortunately I have bad memories. I hope that this will change. Sweetie rabbit <3

    • Avatar DPBLOGPL 11 December 2017 / 14: 18

I also hope. Foundations should especially help people who have absolutely no idea what to do in such a situation. Unfortunately, not all of them are friendly to others.

      Semirek sends his nose! :))))

The bitch I didn't manage to sterilize became pregnant. I found that once the puppies are born and gets better, it will only be sterilized. The girl gave birth to 11 healthy puppies. I put them on the groups of "animal lovers" because the dogs were nice, I was sure that someone would take them in. However, I did not foresee one hate of this type: how could I let the bitch get pregnant, that I am irresponsible, etc., that I should stop them (preferably all 11 puppies). To sum up: human stupidity knows no bounds, I even got hit by some grandmothers. I deleted the post, gave the dogs to my friends, and sterilized the female. These "animal lovers" sometimes behave like mad animals. I guess what you experienced with this kitty. I feel sorry, but comfort yourself with the fact that everyone who wants to give away a pet on the internet has it.

    • Avatar DPBLOGPL 11 December 2017 / 09: 33

Good luck with maintaining 11 puppies ... after all, it would be some cosmos 😉 We, despite having one rabbit, castrated it right away. Due to the fact that later often non-sterilized / non-castrated animals suffer from all types of crayfish. I would not like to experience it.

I do not doubt that animal lovers do a lot of good, but at the same time criticizing everyone (instead of helping) they also do a lot of bad. All night, when we gave away Foszka, I couldn't recover from the trauma. Just giving away the animal and hate that came to me (which I didn't expect at all).

And I know that I will definitely help every pet (okay, spiders, snakes etc. are not taken into account ...), but I will definitely look for help elsewhere.

I have very similar experiences that have radically changed my idea of the so-called animal welfare organizations. A similar story ... I found a cat that was freezing, took it for the night, fed it, started looking for help ... I have a dog whose cat's presence was very stressful but never mind ... I'm not looking for excuses.
... I was looking for help the same way ... finally, when I gave the cat to one of the associations, I was threatened by the police - I was leaving the animal!
I have not been so outraged for a long time.
I don't know if I will react once again - horror. I love animals but I am responsible for my dog who is sick and requires max attention, love and money.
It's very sad because they teach people indifference

    • Avatar DPBLOGPL 10 December 2017 / 10: 30

Well ... through such situations you start to wonder if it is worth helping at all. It shouldn't be like that! Helping should be natural, straight from the heart. At the same time, common sense. I always put the good of my loved ones, including animals, first.

  7. Avatar Beauty Land 9 December 2017 / 16: 38

Not a nice situation. Once, someone gave me a dog on my property and I would like to take him home, but unfortunately I don't have the conditions, and I have one dog at home who definitely doesn't want company.
And I met with criticism of my friends that I could keep him in the yard after all, but I don't have the means to keep a dog, people don't understand that a dog costs money.

    • Avatar DPBLOGPL 9 December 2017 / 20: 19

There are many people who love to criticize. It is a pity that it ends there. When it comes to what they are supposed to do, they suddenly pretend that it doesn't concern them. Do not worry! You have to make informed decisions in life, and so was yours. It would be worse if you kept the dog and was unhappy. Your pet too.

  8. Avatar Tiny Rozkminy 9 December 2017 / 15: 48

I might risk myself, but I don't know more vicious and fierce people, like radical beasts. I wrote about it myself - I was terrified when one of the shelters simply refused to shelter a dog whose owners gave him because of a child's allergy.
And yes, I understand that on 90% the allergy was an excuse (it is possible, however, not. What then?), On the other hand, these people of this dog did not want anymore. They finally left him outside the shelter and drove away. And it's so good that they didn't leave it somewhere in the woods or tie it to a tree. The hate that poured on them from both the shelter and the site fans was terrifying.
And animal foundations? River theme. I remember saving a hedgehog dying next to my house. He was dying when I called from one association to another and from one veto to another. I probably wouldn't save him, but none of these foundations showed even a minimal desire to help. If she ever answered the phone.
I wouldn't have the chance to take this kitten myself now. I would probably do the same, even though I love cats.

Not every foundation is the same. SPK, i.e. the rabbit foundation from Sopot, helped us when we received 2 rabbits from a man who was surprised that the rabbits are breeding (surprise a million). You can always count on them. However, you have to remember that they are also volunteers and have private lives. Just because they don't reply right away doesn't mean anything wrong. This cat foundation totally let me down. Never my 1% or any other help on our part will go in her direction. I don't doubt they are doing a lot of good, but they should definitely change their mindset anyway.
