What does remote work look like in Social Media

You are very interested in my professional work, that's why I decided to write about what my day looks like working in the social media industry (note: I've been working in this profession for 5 years - I deal with Facebook and Instagram profiles as well as influence marketing for premium brands from the fashion and fashion sectors beauty). In this article you will learn about remote work in Social Media. If you have any questions about working in this industry, ask them in the comments.

Work related to social media (remote work in Social Media) is actually an 24 / 24 work. If you see packages where someone will take care of your profile at certain times (e.g. 9-17 as in the case of most agencies), think about cooperation with someone who will take care of your profile as it should. I can't imagine operating a brand's profile only at certain times and then leaving it alone (at the thought of it with goose bumps). That is why I offer profile support from A to Z to each of my clients. Over the years when I have been working in the profession, I have developed such a model of cooperation. It suits both me and my clients who do not have to worry about their Facebook or Instagram profile.

Wake up and phone in hand

I will not cheat that after waking up I do not check what happened overnight on my clients' profiles and blog. This is one of the most important activities during the day, because it is also often the moment to "put out fires" after a night. It's also the moment when I answer all the comments that were written while I was sleeping.

Depending on the client, I publish posts in the morning for some, and in the evening for some. I determine all this on the basis of statistics and observations of a given profile. It happens that Instagram says one thing and observations something different. In the case of one of my clients, Instagram shows that most people browse the profile in the evening, while my observations show that more engagement is after the morning publication than in the evening. In a word - don't trust the statistics blindly, just test and observe.

And if we're already at the publications, my system is to create (monthly) post schedules, which are, however, very flexible. It often happens that I have a fast for a given day, and that day is my client's Press Day. It is obvious that I will then publish the event coverage, not the schedule post.

Care for social media profiles during the day

During the day I check every profile about every half hour / hour, of course I also have notifications set up, so I can react quickly if a comment appears, e.g. on Instagram. This is important because time is important in social media. There is no place for slow people.

Keeping the brand's social profile, you need to remember about activity on other accounts. Of course, I can't imagine posting comments "a beautiful profile, check our new collection", but every day I leave comments whether I leave hearts under the photos of people I observe as a given profile and people who are potential customers (they are in the target group of a given brand ). Remember the limits, otherwise IG will block your account.

What happens to profiles in the evening and at night?

Working in the media is a demanding job. Of course, everyone has a private life and my clients understand this, although I can't imagine not responding to a comment or private message in the evening (I have already mentioned it above - I deal with comprehensive service of profiles in social media).

Every day before bedtime, I check every profile I manage so that I can go to sleep peacefully and not leave anything for the next day (I have the impression that I am sleeping worse hahaha). I respond to comments and private messages that have appeared since the last profile check.

How many profiles in SM can be run at once?

You have to answer this question yourself - it all depends on how much time you want to spend on work and how much you want to have from that income. Personally, I can't imagine running more than 3 profiles. For me it is the absolute maximum to reconcile work and private life. Of course, you can keep more profiles if you can - the decision is yours. For Instagram, you can have up to 5 profiles logged in to the application. I always laugh that Instagram has set a limit for how many people manage profiles.

Hi, this weekend is good in support of me, because this point in time and am reading this great informative
    post here at my house.

I remember that at the beginning of the appearance of social media in Poland, many people, but also institutions, thought that it could actually be a "side" occupation of a person dealing with something else on a daily basis. Now we know how important this job is and no one underestimates "social seating". Thanks for this post 🙂

Unfortunately, some still think so. Very often people such as receptionists, assistants etc. deal with social media ba! Even in a large corporation, where in life I would not suspect not with social media, and influence marketing is done by a person who is green in this topic. Fortunately, more and more is changing and this profession is becoming more and more needed, visible and appreciated.

I was looking for such information. Often, the young people I meet say they will work on social media. The argument is that you don't have to work and you have a lot of free time when you want. I needed a different look. Thank you.

Hahaha a lot of free time is often my dream! I just published a post on the client's account 😉 Someone who does not know this profession may think so. It is only on your own skin that you find out what it looks like.

Oh dear, everything is black and white, we know it 😀 I am lucky enough that strictly service and messages are dealt with by my subcontractors, so I am free to have permanent conversations. Many people think that this is an easy job, but it requires extraordinary situational intelligence and the slack that social media are characterized by, there is no place here for "numb". As for the number of accounts - like a person who works with subcontractors, I can take them on the shoulders, but there is one problem - instagram allows you to have max 5 profiles logged in at the same time, logging in is a horror so soon I will probably have to invest in a second phone ???

I was also thinking about the second phone, but if there is still Piotr's phone 😀 I will not agree with these numbers - someone with such a lifestyle, but with skills will be good at running a corporate profile 😀

The best promotion is paid or something else you recommend?

Are you asking about promoting your Instagram or Facebook profile? What is your purpose

This work seems to be very pleasant, and it's good that you can work from home because I travel 40 minutes one way to work if there are no traffic jams. Warsaw ...;)))))

I like my job because I like something going on. I don't like boredom, but I can appreciate peace and looser days, like yesterday. And with traffic jams I know what you are saying ... I traveled from Mordor to the Center for some time and thought that I would go crazy ...

Cool that you write about it. I did not know that there is such a profession maybe because I am on your blog for the first time but you were very interested in what you wrote.

First of all - welcome to our blog 🙂 Yes! I have been working officially since 2014 a year, and unofficially much earlier. If you are interested in this topic, then in Blogger's Guide you will find other posts about my work.

I work in an agency as a Social Media Manager, but I also have clients outside of the agency. I can't (NDA), but who will find out ...

I would be afraid to risk so much since you have a signed loyalty. In Wawa, when it comes to agencies, everyone knows each other, so it's different.

  9. Avatar Alexander NS 4 June 2019 / 08: 50

Very interesting entry. Although I personally like to sit "on the Internet", after what you wrote I probably wouldn't want to work like that. Yes, there is still private life and your obligations on the blog and ig. How much time do you need to have? I think the day would be too short ... .. Regards!

    • dpblogpl dpblogpl 4 June 2019 / 09: 48

A matter of good organization - seriously 😉 However, you have to like it! And I can confidently say that I like my job and gives me pleasure ... I like something going on and I fall into the pit when there is too much peace hahaha 🙂 I try to save at least one day a week (most often it is Sunday) to rest . And I am very careful about that, that one day as much as possible relax and rest, of course, without forgetting about professional commitments. Sunday is a relatively calm day on social media. The biggest traffic starts in the evening, which gives me a lot of free time that day.

Running a blog and other social media is hard work, especially when you want to make money 🙂

    • dpblogpl dpblogpl 4 June 2019 / 10: 06

The hardest part is finding cool customers with whom you have a partner relationship (I always strive for it, because both sides are to be satisfied). The work itself is quite difficult, but if you like it, you will definitely enjoy it a lot. And let's make an appointment - I spend so much time in SM that it was a pity not to use it 😉

  11. Avatar Kamila 3 June 2019 / 23: 02

This seems to be very difficult work.

    • dpblogpl dpblogpl 4 June 2019 / 10: 08

Yes and no. It depends ... you just have to like it 🙂

  12. Avatar Adrianna 3 June 2019 / 22: 54

Interesting, it's great that you write about it because I didn't know what it looks like from the other side. I think this is a difficult profession, it seems like I read what you wrote and how you talk about your work on Instagram.

    • dpblogpl dpblogpl 4 June 2019 / 10: 09

I have been "sitting" in this profession for so many years that it is a pleasure for me. However, now there is such competition that it is hard to stand out. Most of the market is broken by pseudo-experts who run one profile on IG and think that they know everything 🙁

  13. Avatar Anita 3 June 2019 / 19: 55

Working 24 hours a day is not for me !!!!! I have children and I can't imagine working that way, I can barely pick them up from kindergarten ... then I have to make dinner and play with the kids. I don't even have time to sit down for a while.

    • dpblogpl dpblogpl 4 June 2019 / 10: 10

I think it could be hard, but everything is overwhelming. The question of organizing your time well 🙂 However, availability is key.

  14. Avatar Beata 3 June 2019 / 19: 52

I use social media a lot and I would like to try to make money from it but I don't know where to start ????
