Manolo Blahnik - a colorful figure in the fashion world

Shoes are my weakness. I don't like ordinary shoes, even the most ordinary ones must have this "something". I also love completely classic shoes that go with everything. I love high heels, but I don't love to wear them. Shoes inspire me, especially those from the top shelf, which are not only beautiful, but also very often well-shaped and comfortable. I have a great weakness for Chanel and Manolo Blahnik shoes. Today's post I devote to Manolo, who is an extremely colorful figure in the fashion world.

Manolo Blahnik - a character who changed my perception of shoes

The first Manolo model I fell in love with was the Hangisi model, i.e. classic, satin heels decorated with a buckle with Swarovski crystals. You can associate this model with the movie 'Sex and the City'. I fell in love with them when I first saw them in one of the styles of my favorite actress Sophia Bush. This model has long been on my mind. Manolo, however, are not only classic models like Hangisi or the beautiful Contina decorated with a bow, but also crazier models such as Remol boots or Josef boots, which I personally associate with a coral reef.

In addition to high heels, classic pumps or boots, in the Manolo collections you will also find flat shoes in an elegant edition. Manolo is one of the few who struggle with the stereotype that flat footwear is not very feminine and sexy. Most simply don't know how to design them to meet women's tastes.

Ever since I watched a document about Manolo on Netflix (here you can see the trailer), I have even more respect for this artist. He is a huge artist and virtuoso. He expresses this not only in his way of life, but also in his original projects. What inspires Manolo? Garden, architecture or everyday life. This man can draw inspiration from every aspect of his life.

There are no Manolo shoes in my wardrobe (Chanel Slingback beige and black are on the top of the list), but the classic Contina model is extremely handsome and very much in my style. For me, when choosing shoes, their originality is extremely important, and at the same time classic and comfort, of course. And apparently Manolo shoes are very comfortable (unfortunately I can't confirm it).

Manolo's career, or how to start designing shoes

Manolo knew what he would like to do in life. From an early age he was attracted to shoes and as a small child he made shoes for lizards (apparently it was easy to catch them) from candy wrappers. This extremely energetic and colorful character like any artist - to live, he must create.

Years ago I was drawn to clothes design. I often have trouble finding what I really want in stores. And once I find it, it's usually too wide for me. I am very much thinking about returning to the design and sewing of dressmakers clothes. This is supposedly more profitable than buying clothes for lack of sealing wax. And what is the satisfaction when you can dazzle guests with your design dress instead of a dress bought in a store.

With shoes, I think that this is a more complex process, because you need to balance them so that they are comfortable. For me it's a driving school, that's why I admire Manolo not only for the design, but also for the comfort that many women around the world praise.

Of course, I associate the Hangisi model with "Sex and the City". When I watched this series a long time ago, I couldn't understand the phenomenon of these shoes, but now I have fallen in love with them. 🙂

I don't know you, but my shoes are gone. So, looking through your entry, I came to the conclusion that you really need to have a "head" to create such small works of art that they fit, and were comfortable too 🙂

In this case, I recommend a Manolo document on Netflix. He is a really interesting character, my suspicions confirmed.

For me, creating comfortable high heels is a challenge at all.
