Menstruation a taboo subject

Today a very feminine post, because it concerns menstruation, and more precisely ways to deal with menstrual pain and a few words about hygiene products + review Gentle Day sanitary napkins. Menstruation is a special time for women. At least they said that when I was in the 4 primary school class and we had the first classes on puberty.

Over time, I realized that menstruation is a special time. I feel extremely unattractive and extremely uncomfortable then;)

Most often, menstruation is accompanied by terrible lower abdominal pain, which, however, can be easily alleviated. With terrible menstrual pain, I usually reach for tea with lemon balm or sage. Both herbs have relaxing and soothing properties. I reach for a pill very rarely, actually when I can't really stand it anymore. Usually, however, I save myself by natural means.
Yoga is a good way to relieve menstrual symptoms. Remember, however, that some positions cannot be performed during menstruation, among others jumps and candles.
As you know, we have several ways to protect yourself during menstruation. The most commonly used are:
  • tampons
  • sanitary
  • menstrual cups
During menstruation, intimate hygiene wipes also work very well. I recommend Facelle wipes, which I always have in my purse during my menstrual period, they also accompany me before visits to the gynecologist. It's a great way when you want to refresh yourself and you don't have the opportunity to use the shower. In addition, thanks to these wipes, we can also stay fresh during menstruation. Hygiene during this period is particularly important because in more serious cases we may have TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), which can even end in death.
Each of us can get this disease if we have too low resistance to toxins produced by Staphylococcus aureus.
I warn you against this because I had TSS myself. I lay in the hospital for a week. TSS is accompanied by very high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, general weakness and muscle pain. I have also not used tampons since then.
A few days ago I finished testing the Gentle Day eco sanitary napkin packaging. I was very pleased with this cooperation, because a few months ago Always introduced perfumed sanitary napkins, which made me allergic. Since then I have been looking for something that can be a replacement for sanitary pads that I have used so far.
Gentle Day sanitary pads are made of organic cotton, they are not perfumed, so there is no possibility of an allergic reaction. In addition, they have an anion strip (the yellow strip in the picture), which not only neutralizes odor, but also stops the spread of bacteria. This is very important to me because I would not like to experience TSS again. Thanks to the anion band, I felt more fresh during menstruation than when using traditional sanitary pads.
When using these sanitary pads you can actually feel the difference. I have the impression that sanitary pads are more absorbent than drugstore ones (I tested sanitary pads for the day with wings). While using them, I did not get any unpleasant surprise caused by the fact that the sanitary napkin leaked, etc.

It is also worth mentioning that the sanitary napkins available in drugstores are chlorinated to make them snow-white. This is not good for sensitive areas of our body. Gentle Day sanitary pads are not chlorinated.

Their price is more or less the same for Always sanitary napkins. The ones I use in DOZ cost 11,59 PLN / 10 items

I apologize for my negative attitude to the part that herbs help for terrible pain because I faint from pain. And I can't imagine sipping meliske these days to relieve pain. I am very annoyed by the advice of mothers and grandmothers in such cases, "every woman has it," "exaggerating." There is very little information on what to do with so much pain and such abundance of the period. I envy all women who can function normally at this time 🙁

Unfortunately, I know what you are saying. Already a few years ago I had problems with very painful periods. Since I take birth control pills especially for women with such ailments - very heavy and painful periods, my life has become more beautiful 😉

And I've been using tampons for almost 8 years - I can't imagine getting back to sanitary napkins.

      Unfortunately, I can't. I have forbidden by a doctor 🙁

A bit expensive, but for sensitive people as found 🙂

They are twice as absorbent than ordinary sanitary pads. Unless in the case of the Always pads, I usually use a large package, always classic, during one period, here I have one item left :)

Fortunately, I'm not very sensitive and I use regular drugstore sanitary pads.

I have never been to it, I became convinced of this only when they added fragrance to the Always sanitary napkins.

Evening primrose oil can relieve menstrual cramps.

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 21 November 2014 / 16: 30

How to use it to help in this case? :)

And I have heard that before the pains start to crack 4 allspice balls. 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 21 November 2014 / 18: 21

I really don't like the taste of allspice: P
