Cosmetic minimalism and cosmetics stocks

For a long time I have been trying to limit used cosmetics. There were times when my cabinets were bursting at the seams with the products I tested. However, I have learned to give away things that do not serve me or impress me. Those that were useless - end up in the trash.

cosmetic minimalism
While I have never complained about the excess of color, because I have always tried to buy only the products I need (matching the canons of my cosmetic taste), I sometimes exaggerated with care. I don't buy three shower gels, but I do buy something in store. I like to have in store products that I like and I know I will buy again.
When it comes to lip cosmetics, I only have 2 lip glosses, 2 lipsticks and one moisturizing lipstick + Tisane, which I only use at night.
I have my favorites in makeup, which I use all the time: Dr G BB cream, Max Factor False Lash mascara, Eveline mascara base and Inglot eye shadows. Mac well dressed roses joined this group.

lip gloss
I do not buy cosmetics addictively and I am struggling in drugstores with a desire to try something new. I always take with the list of products that I have to buy. Thanks to this, I avoid putting what I get into the basket.
I usually have one spare pack of Garnier avocado hair conditioner, shower gel and Facelle at home. These are three products without which I could not cope in case they would end.
What I don't have to buy in store is a hair shampoo. Since I use Hipp shampoo, I don't have to worry about running out of shampoo. The shampoo is extremely effective. When I notice that the bottle is getting lighter, I buy another.
I don't experiment with cosmetics the way it used to be. I have a database of products that I like very much and when I run out of packaging, I run for more.
These include Hipp shampoo, Garnier avocado conditioner, Facelle green and cotton pads.
Every now and then I do a little insight in the cabinets, and I throw away the things I don't use, or give them away (if they fit). Thanks to this, I save a lot of space in cabinets.
And how are you? Are you cosmetic minimalists or do you have a problem with cabinets cracking from cosmetics?

I also don't create many supplies. If there is a promotion in a store, e.g. foundation, I will buy 2, but I don't think I have too many cosmetics

  2. Avatar Kamila 23 January 2015 / 15: 35

My care supplies are huge - along with what I use it is about 260szt (i.e. that was at the beginning of the year)

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 25 January 2015 / 12: 56

A lot, I have never had that amount of cosmetics ... Not really;)

  3. Avatar Rincewind99 15 December 2014 / 13: 53

I am a minimalist when it comes to color ... while for cosmetics I have a weakness 😉

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 25 January 2015 / 12: 56

Just like me, but it can be changed. Just work on yourself a little bit 🙂

  4. Avatar Izabelka 11 December 2014 / 18: 36

I also don't have special supplies, but I really like colorful lip spreads and I would like to have a lot of them 😀 However, I don't buy anything to spare except for the last addition to Russian hair cosmetics 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 11 December 2014 / 18: 49

I always have to have liquid soap, Facelle, hair shampoo and mandatory conditioner garnier at my disposal;)

  5. Avatar cherryfantaa 11 December 2014 / 17: 33

Having 17 lipsticks I'm not a minimalist, but the promotion was 😀 and now I know that by the end of next year I will not buy any :) when it comes to mascaras, I have two favorites and I use them in exchange and I am not tempted to buy another one. I have two backing tracks but I think none of them will be. I have one powder and I'm enchanted with it. Shadows and palettes hm is a bag, so I won't buy anything anymore until 2016 - crayons? I don't use them, I only have eyeliner gel and it works well. Also 2015rok without buying coloring books (unless the ink runs out :))

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 11 December 2014 / 17: 51

      I recently gave a lot of cosmetics that I didn't use :)

  6. Avatar Shonali 11 December 2014 / 06: 59

Recently, I sold products I don't use. I felt guilty that I had so much of it, and I probably never would use it. Thanks to this, I have more space, and even a coin has fallen into my pocket 🙂

  7. Avatar Paryska88 10 December 2014 / 08: 25

Minimalism also definitely reigns with me. It is true that from time to time I like to buy something new, but I always focus on quality, not quantity, and avoid duplication of cosmetics :)

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 10 December 2014 / 11: 48

Duplication of cosmetics is a step to overdo the amount of products. Besides, I always wonder why, for example, 2 powders or 3 blushes ...

    • Avatar me, Cosmonaut 10 December 2014 / 19: 31

Er, no exaggeration, we don't go crazy with these roses 😉 With them, like with lipsticks, there are hundreds of shades, finishes, etc. and in my opinion it is quite normal that someone may want one day more peach, the other typically pink, and the third some in cream, or shiny or something ... Hehe, but I only have one myself, because I don't have such humors 😉

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 10 December 2014 / 20: 23

I agree with you, but I don't think that 3 the same products are necessary. I have only one pink myself, which is enough for me :)

  8. Avatar yeneferx 7 December 2014 / 23: 26

I see that I'm not the only one with such a problem 😀 I've been fighting this for a long time but sometimes temptations can be irresistible 😀 Although I have been giving cosmetics that I don't use or don't fit to me for some time - as I gave 2 lip glosses you just won not my colors and why they are going to be wasted 😛

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 8 December 2014 / 05: 06

Exactly, it's nice to have someone to give away, because you get rid of excess cosmetics, and someone will be glad that they got something. It's nice jak and how the soap did it? :)

    • Avatar yeneferx 9 December 2014 / 09: 22

I haven't used it yet because I am waiting for the smell to come back - unfortunately this is the case with chronic sinusitis 🙁 But it certainly won't go to waste 🙂 Besides, I have to hide such wonders because my other half passionately takes my gels and soaps 😀 Fortunately, he doesn't all like

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 9 December 2014 / 18: 13

Be sure to hide them, because I smelled them and it smells wonderful :)

  9. Avatar magdahom 7 December 2014 / 21: 51

When it comes to makeup - I'm a minimalist.

However, since I started using the Asian care ritual, my shelf with face care cosmetics is bursting at the seams. Of course, I can't help myself and buy something new to try because I am still looking for my perfect set. However, good advice is giving away unnecessary cosmetics and I think I will make such a gift set for mum 😉

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 8 December 2014 / 05: 08

And the gift is ready. Just remember to choose the right cosmetics for your face type and the age of the person you give it to 🙂

  10. Avatar Isabell 7 December 2014 / 15: 36

I have to admit that I have little cosmetics ... everything fits in a medium-sized beautician ... But my husband says it's a lot 😉

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 8 December 2014 / 05: 10

It's really not enough, for men even if you only had one mascara it would be too much 😉

  11. Avatar 111 Strudel 7 December 2014 / 09: 37

I've tried to take up the challenge of cosmetic minimalism so many times. So far I have managed it regarding the coloring, now I have too much everything!

I only implement: I do not open a new cosmetic until I finish the previous one. 🙂

    Regards 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 8 December 2014 / 05: 09

It is also a good method, because open cosmetics will last much less than closed ones.

  12. Avatar Anonymous 6 December 2014 / 18: 25

I just like testing new products and when I see something new that makes me very interested, even if I have 3 infinite foundations, I will buy 4ty; /

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 7 December 2014 / 09: 21

Haven't you ever wondered how much money goes into these products? Once, I had such a cold shower and I just felt sorry for the money. Now, if I am actually interested in a product and I have a different one (the same), I try to get a sample, based on which I decide whether this cosmetic is really necessary. I recommend this method, thanks to it you will save a lot of space, but also money :)

  13. Avatar Margaretka 4 December 2014 / 20: 06

I also try to be reasonable when shopping, but also when using cosmetics, especially those for care. I do not rub it all into the skin (I always wonder about the wear - the bottom of girls) because when I think about the amount of chemistry that our body has to drink, then moderation returns to favor 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 20: 50

I had a big bottom this month, but it was 2 wear for months 🙂

  14. Avatar YASMINELLE 4 December 2014 / 15: 09

My lockers may not crack at the seams but I still think there is too much of it

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 19: 01

Try to review the cosmetics and decide which you have not used before than 2-3 weeks ago. I give or throw away such products.

  15. Avatar Anonymous 4 December 2014 / 13: 20

Do you know where you can order some free cosmetics or perfume samples? 🙂
Ps. I will gladly read your reviews about these lipsticks: * Regards your observer :))

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 14: 18

Hi, enter 'free samples' in Google and something will definitely pop out. The Polish market is not focused on samples, so I recommend checking out foreign companies 🙂 thank you too: *

  16. Avatar Ania P. 3 December 2014 / 21: 53

I have too much color, unfortunately and I'm fighting with it. I've already dealt with the care.

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 14: 19

In small steps you will certainly succeed. The most important thing is to spot the problem and fight it later.

  17. Avatar Catherine female 3 December 2014 / 20: 40

I try to limit cosmetic purchases only to what I really need, but it comes out very differently.

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 19: 02

It's best to write down the products you need on a piece of paper. This will avoid buying additional items.

  18. Avatar Danccer 3 December 2014 / 20: 21

I used to have excess cosmetics, now I'm trying to buy them more carefully, use a given product and only looking for a new one 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 4 December 2014 / 19: 02

It's a good way because you don't accumulate several of the same products.

  19. Avatar me, Cosmonaut 3 December 2014 / 19: 23

I am somewhere in between, but I am definitely closer to minimalism in both colored and care cosmetics 🙂 I have one multitasking product, so one shower gel, body lotion, mascara or powder. BUT there are products with different variants, e.g. several hair conditioners (emollient, humectant, protein, washing ...) or several lipsticks or eye shadows. At the same time, I do not duplicate the quantity here too much: one red lipstick is enough for me (I do not need bloody, wine and raspberry separately), as well as one nude (because I need five beige different from each other so minimally that no one except me will notice?) 😉

  20. Avatar orchideamagiapiekna 3 December 2014 / 19: 08

I try to use everything on a regular basis, although I have a few items to spare. I also did the action of giving away everything that I don't use or I used it once and it didn't work for me. I invited a few friends to me and I distribute these things. And they and I were delighted 😉
    I recommend this way 🙂

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 3 December 2014 / 19: 54

This is definitely a very nice idea, I also gave my products away, and those that were unsuitable - I threw away.

  21. Avatar Madziakowo 3 December 2014 / 18: 40

I have made great progress during 2 years :) but I still have some excess

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 3 December 2014 / 19: 52

Congratulations! The small steps method is very effective 🙂

  22. Avatar nude shades 3 December 2014 / 16: 58

I try to approach cosmetics with my head. I think I don't have too many of them and it doesn't spill out of my cupboards: D

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 3 December 2014 / 17: 17

Haha that's the most important thing. When they start pouring, it is time to stop or ... buy an additional cabinet 😉

    • Avatar GoodForYouDP 3 December 2014 / 16: 11

The key is to find the golden mean 🙂
