Wire hits: I'm not a camera anymore!

orthodontic retainer
Exactly on 15.03.2016 I took off my fixed camera. I was looking forward to eating a croissant with poppy seeds (poppy seed and fixed camera is not a good combination) or anything else that is hard.
Actually, going to the visit I wasn't sure if it is the day today. I also didn't know that you had to make an appointment for removing the camera. Fortunately, my orthodontist said that we could easily cope during the normal visit.
Removing the fixed appliance - does it hurt?
This is not the most pleasant thing that has ever happened to me. To be honest, it may not hurt so much, but it was just unpleasant.
Locks are torn off, which is a lot to say by force. Some go easier, some do not want to detach. The sound of breaking the locks was probably the worst. At the first castle I thought that my orthodontist pulled out the castle with my tooth;)
Later, the adhesive was removed. If someone is not a fan of drill sounds then it can be interesting because every tooth needs to be grinded. Fortunately, it doesn't take too long, but it can spill some blood.
After removing the camera, the teeth are sensitive, so it is worth washing them for a few days with toothpaste for sensitive teeth (eg Elmex for sensitive teeth ) and rinse with sage or calendula, or Sylveco oral hygiene liquid ).

Orthodontic retainer

After removing the camera, you must wear a retainer so that the defect does not return. I think that this is a very important issue, because probably no one is wearing the camera to put it on again.
When the adhesive is removed from the teeth, the orthodontist took the impressions on the basis of which the retainer was made. It takes about 7 days. The retainer should be worn overnight, daily. By how much? The longer we wear the retainer, the longer the teeth are perfectly straight. From what I know, later you can wear it less often, e.g. several times a week.

Interestingly - talking to my orthodontist when picking up the retainer, I learned that some people do not pick it up or wear it. In my opinion, it is complete stupidity, because this is not what money is spent for. I do not intend to wear a fixed device again, so I will wear the retainer regularly.

During this time the teeth may bend slightly, but the retainer will bring them to order.

Wire hits part 2 Pain with a fixed camera, food, does the camera disturb everyday life ?!

Today, the second part of the Wire hits. In this note I would like to raise a few issues that I was looking for myself before putting on the camera.

eating with a fixed camera

First of all, pain. It is not at all a myth that after putting on a fixed appliance you feel pain. However, this issue is individual and not everyone can feel it the same. I, as my pain threshold is very low, felt it very strongly. Before the first 3 days, I thought I would be screaming in pain. Painkillers have become my friends, and Dentinox N teething gel for toddlers has also helped a lot, so it makes you feel bad.
Sachol and orthodontic wax also helpthat sticks to the locks that hook. And at the beginning the locks hook, oh hook ... I for the first week probably used 2 or 3 wax tube ...
As you probably guessed it wasn't easy with food. For 2 weeks I ate only mush and was furious. Now it's much better and I can eat almost anything, except for my beloved nuts (only pine nuts are involved), as well as all kinds of rusks, candies. I also skip wide fudges, chewing gums, plums in chocolate and chocolate bars such as snicers, mars or even highlanders (they are very thick and I will not bite them: P) I will not bite a roll, I will not bite any, so I break cut it into smaller pieces.
I also have a problem with bread crusts, which are still a challenge for me. I rather don't eat them. To this day I will not bite lettuce or cocktail tomatoes, but a friend who also wears a camera said that she had only recently eaten a salad (and the camera has worn it longer than I do), this is also probably normal. In general, at the beginning of the food causes a lot of trouble, in the first days there is no question of normal food, soup-creams, or mushy, gerberas, etc. are recommended.
The things that I can eat and which cause problems are: poppy seeds, spinach, mushrooms, because they enter the camera and it is difficult to get rid of them.
The myth is that at aesthetic apparatus you can't eat beets. I eat, but immediately after eating I go rinse my mouth, and after 15 minutes after eating I go to brush my teeth. The issue of hygiene with a fixed appliance will be discussed in detail in the next note.
The camera does not bother you in everyday life, you just have to remember to have a toothbrush and toothpaste with you and brush your teeth at least once a day (after a meal).
Many girls are worried about kissing with the camera. The camera doesn't hook or anything. You can kiss at will! 😉
